President of the Central Election Commission (CIK) Stjepan Mikić announced that everything is ready for the Commission to announce on 15 May the general elections, which will be held on 12 October.
‘’All requirements have been met and on 15 May CIK will hold a meeting where a decision will be brought on the scheduling of the elections’’, said Mikić.
The President of CIK said that the citizens of B&H will elect members of the B&H Presidency, House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly, President and Vice-President of the RS, members in the RS National Assembly, House of Representatives of the FB&H, and members in the cantonal assemblies of the FB&H.
‘’Funds for the election were allocated from the B&H budget in the amount of 8.854.000 BAM, which is around eight percent more in comparison to funds for the general elections 2010’’, said Mikić. He added that this does not mean that all the money will be spent.
According to him, on the day of the announcement of the election the so-called timetable of activities for the conduct of the elections will start, in which specified actions and dates will be announced, such as signing up to vote through the mail or the concluding sections of the central voter register.
Mikić said that the first section of the central electoral roll would be done on 14 May at 24:00 for the needs of the announcing the election.
He added that at the general elections, as well as elections from earlier years, voting will be allowed at regular polling stations in the country and through mail for B&H citizens who have been residing or working abroad for a long time.
‘’Those citizens must declare, in deadlines that will be known in the planned schedule of electoral activities, whether they wish to vote through mail or in diplomatic and consular missions of B&H abroad’’, said Mikić.
