State judicial institutions were provided by the Dayton Peace Agreement and confirmed by the Constitutional Court of B&H. This competence always belonged to the state. None of entities cannot organize a referendum on auspices that belong to the state.
This was said yesterday from the Office of Public Affairs of the Embassy of the USA, in a respond to the request for a comment on the announcement of the president of RS about the organization of a referendum.
Dodik announced that the question on which the citizens of RS will vote will be “Whether they accept the laws of the High representatives in the past, especially about the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H and do they accept the decisions of those state judicial institutions to be applied in RS“.
However, it was emphasized from the Embassy of the USA that the independent judiciary is a foundation of every democracy and that all citizens have to respect it.
“Court and the Prosecutor’s Office have to investigate new evidences in the cases of war crimes and continue to prosecute relevant cases in accordance with the laws of this country“, as stated in a respond.
