Student of Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Eldin Heric, is the winner of New York Art Residency for 2018, as stated by BH Film Festival (BHFF).
As the award for his work on design of promotional materials for BHFF 2018, Eldin will visit New York during the festival and present his project to BHFF audience.
In the year of 2018, eight students from the Academy of Fine Arts, in cooperation with curatorial teams in Sarajevo and New York, submitted their artistic proposals to the competition. Then, curatorial teams chose the winner, a student of graphical design, Eldin Heric. Eldin’s work shows two bridges connecting symbolic buildings from BiH and New York, while the Statue of Liberty is placed in the center.
The goal of this project is to prepare art work that represents identity of BiH as well as New York, and that would interpret how those two different cultures overlap through BHFF. Main topics of films, identity, dislocation and culturological stereotypes are included in selected art vision and solution.
Academy of Fine Arts and BHFF believe that this visit to New York will have a great importance for Eldin’s academic and professional development, as well as inspiration for other participants of the competition.
BHFF expressed its gratitude to the Trust for Mutual Understanding for financial support during this project, as well as to curator team in Sarajevo, the Professor of Academy of Fine Arts Bojan Hadzihalilovic and Sandro Drinovac.
