The signing of a Memorandum of understanding between the Coordination Committee to monitor the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the UN Resolution 1325 and 13 nonprofit organizations on 29 October in Sarajevo provided the platform for cooperation, consultation, coordination of activities and the exchange of information between relevant governmental institutions and key nonprofit organizations that deal with issues on women, peace and security.
‘’This Memorandum of understanding is a platform for a new form of cooperation and partnership between the mechanism for monitoring the implementation of the Action Plan and the nonprofit sector, which poses a very important factor in the implementation of this resolution at the local level and in cooperation with local governmental authorities’’, said Samr Filipović Hadžiabdić, the Director of the Agency for Gender Equality in B&H. She added that the ‘’Action Coordination Committee to monitor the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the UN Resolution ‘Women, Peace and Security’ in B&H has been recognized in B&H and in the region as an example of good practice action, participation and cooperation of the relevant institutions in the implementation of any type of action plan.
This is the first time at a model of continual planning and coordination between representatives of civil society and institutions at the three levels of government in B&H have been established, which in this case allows for the most efficient use of its existing capacities and capabilities.
The signing of the Memorandum is possible as a result of successful cooperation of the Agency for Gender Equality in B&H, UN Women B&H and the Institute for Inclusive Security in the USA.
