European funds represent a great opportunity, but also a challenge. It depends on the cooperation between entities and the country on whether we will succeed in using them,” said the Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of FBiH, Semsudin Dedic.
At the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Federal Republic of Germany and Minister Christian Schmidt, Minister Dedic took part in the 10th Conference of Ministers of Agriculture in Berlin, which was held within the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA).
“I was assured in Berlin that the European Union, especially Germany, will give us continuous support in this field,” stated Minister Dedic.
“Getting the opportunity for export of milk and dairy products to the EU is a proof that we are doing our job well. We are expecting a green light for the export of poultry meat in the first quarter of this year as well,” said Dedic, noting that BiH has quality products to offer, but also some shortcomings when it comes to legislation.
Dedic attended a series of bilateral meetings with ministers of agriculture of the EU and representatives of the Directorate for Enlargement of the European Commission (EC) and heads of the Directorate-General for Agriculture of the EC.
They also discussed the upcoming implementation of the Strategic Plan for Rural Development. Considering the fact that the strategy defines only strategic goals, the EU has prescribed additional documents in order for BiH to precisely determine where to direct the IPA II funds.
