The Congress of the Party of Democratic Action, the sixth since the establishment of the Party, was completed early this morning, around 5 a.m… Barely 50 delegates welcomed the end of the Congress.
The 6th Congress of the Party of Democratic Action finished around 5 a.m. with the appointment of 85 elected members of the Main Board.
At the 6th congress, 720 attending delegates elected Bakir Izetbegović as the President of the Party, while Adil Osmanović was elected to hold the position of Deputy President.
Eight Vice-Presidents were also elected at the Congress. During the next four years, the Vice Presidents of the Party of Democratic Action are to be Šefik Džaferović, Denis Zvizdić, Asim Sarajlić, Edin Mušić, Šemsudin Dedić, Safet Softić, Edin Ramić and Mirsad Kukić.
Later on in the evening, the names of 85 members of the Main Board of the Party of Democratic Action for the next four years were announced.
The Court of Honour of the Party of Democratic Action consists of the following members: Šefket Hafizović, Irfan Ajanović, Nezir Pivić, Faruk Mekić, Ljiljana Sakic, Seid Alibegović, Nezir Dedić, Edham Veladžić, Bedrudin Salčinović, Nail Šećkanović and Emela Krvavac.
Appointed as the members of the Supervisory Board are: Suljo Hadžić, Alisa Hajdarević, Amira Ornjaković, Dževad Agić and Edis Bajić.
The Congress unanimously adopted the Party’s Program Declaration and 12 Resolutions as follows: Resolution on the primary objectives of the economic policy and development policy; Resolution on the constitutional reform and reform of public administration; Resolution on policy in the field of security and defence; Resolution on judicial reform, the fight against violence, organized crime and corruption; Resolution on the policy of sustainable return of refugees and displaced persons; Resolution on the policy of veteran protection and realization of the rights of civilian victims of war; Resolution on foreign policy and Euro-Atlantic integrations; Resolution on policy in the field of health; Resolution on policy in the field of education and science; Resolution on policy in the area of pension and disability insurance and social protection; Resolution on policy in the field of family protection and demography, and the Resolution on policy in the field of sport and culture. The conclusion of the Statute of the Party, the organization and working methods of the Party was also adopted.
The Congress was also marked by a minor incident that occurred during the counting of votes for the Vice Presidents. The candidate Mirsad Kukić and his supporters believed that they could be looted and reacted strongly to the alleged irregularities. The situation soon calmed down, and the results of voting for the Main Board of the SDA were counted in great detail, causing a delay of several hours.
What could be heard at the Congress were also the demands for the democratization of the Party of Democratic Action, by the principle that each member of the party has the right to elect the leadership. However, the new President Izetbegović explained that the Congress rejected candidates who advocated such a thing.
The following, Seventh Congress of the Party of Democratic Action, should be held no later than May 26th, 2019.
