[wzslider autoplay=”true”]During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Rolf Erik Tråsdahl was a UNPROFOR soldier and stayed in villages near Tuzla, located 120 kilometers northwest of the capital Sarajevo.
He stayed in a village for one year, hence from November 1994 until November 1995.
“We had 4 helicopters which were owned by the United Naions. Close to Zivinice, there were two villages for refugees, and mainly women and children lived in these villages. This villages were built with money from Norway,”Mr.Tråsdahl told Sarajevo Times.
In the camp, there was a hospital and several nurses who visited the villagers, asked if some boys wanted to come with them to take care of children.
“I said yes and we went to the villages many times, we brought them papers and pencils for the children and we also brought music equipment and had a disco evening in one of the houses,” Mr.Tråsdahl said.
He added that he played football with friends and children during the weekend. The photos are taken in one of the villages, when driving from Sarajevo to Tuzla, on the right side of the road, not far away of the Zivinice city center.
“When I stayed there I was 39 years old. I guess the girls for whom I am searching had 11 and 13 years old at that time,”Mr.Tråsdahl said, adding that he would be happy if he could hear how their life is going.
