The European Union organized the Regional Conference in the Belgian capital which was, in addition to representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the state and entity levels, attended by representatives of Serbian, Croatian, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo.
The conference is a continuation of activities launched by the Donors’ Conference in Brussels, which was held on July 16 to help victims in the catastrophic floods in May, in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, as well as their prevention.
The host of this meeting was the EU Enlargement Director for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Serbia and Kosovo in the of the European Union Jean Eric Paquet, and on behalf of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina Melvin Asin participated, head of cooperation, while the meeting attended by representatives of the World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Assistant Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bosko Kenjić at the conference pointed out that the state-level 2014-2017 Action Plan which aims to identify future priorities in water management and flood prevention.
This document was submitted for approval to the Council of Ministers of BiH and entity governments.
Also, it was emphasized that they must find ways means to develop cadastres of landslides in BiH and in that way timely warn threatened areas.
With the emphasis that Bosnia and Herzegovina should pay more attention to the future period, conference participants and representatives of donors have given support to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Sava embankment for what about 32 million BAM should be allocated.
It was agreed that the next such meeting, which would be focused on the implementation of what was agreed in Brussels, should again be held in a few months, the PR Office of the Government of the Federation of BiH said.
