„Bio je lijep i sunčan dan…” is a documentary theatre play based on recollections set down by 78 citizens of Sarajevo on 2 May 1992. It was created based on the book ‘2 May 1992-Bio je lijep i sunčan dan’, which was first published in 2008 as part of the project Modul Memory, and the publisher of the book is Festival MESS and Videoarhiv Sarajevo.
The book is a collection of stories, records and photographs that were inspired by one day during the siege, which is considered the first day of the 1395 days of the siege of Sarajevo. The intention of the book was not to make a historical reconstruction of what took place, but rather to reconstruct the emotional state of people who were tied to that day. Among those who published their memories in this book are old and young, men and women, soldiers, police officers, firefighters, journalists, actors, directors, housewives…
Out of all of these memories the play forms a mosaic of a beautiful spring day that forever changed the lives of the citizens of Sarajevo.
