Bosnia and Herzegovina this year marks the first time it has had a trade surplus with Slovenia, which means that we export more than we import from the country for the first time, BiznisInfo writes.
This is very important because Slovenia is one of BiH’s most important trading partners, that is, one of the countries with which we have the largest trade exchange.
In the first nine months of this year, BiH exported goods worth 716 million BAM to Slovenia, while importing goods worth 687 million BAM, which means that we generated a surplus of around 30 million BAM. The September surplus was worth eight million BAM.
With Slovenia, for years BiH has had a trade deficit. For example, in 2012, this deficit amounted to 150 million BAM, which steadily decreased. Last year, BiH also recorded a deficit of 24 million KM.
But this year, BiH exports are experiencing real boom and are recording record values. Total exports from BiH in the first nine months amounted to 8 billion and 95 million BAM, which is 17.9% more than in the same period last year.
In addition, in September, for the first time, exports from BiH exceeded a billion BAM in just one month.
When it comes to Slovenia, BiH products are increasingly popular, with the last BiH product that has finished the process of entering this market is Vispak’s Zlatna Džezva.
This brand entered a chain of Lidl stores in Slovenia a few days ago, which concluded this product’s project to enter the Slovenian market, as it is now available in all major stores in this country.
