BH actor, theatrologist, and extraordinary opera artist Dusan Dusko Bugarin passed away yesterday in Sarajevo.
“On this occasion, we offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends, as well as to all of our colleagues who had the opportunity to spend a part of their life with our Dusko and to enjoy his spirit and a good soul. Dusko Bugarin will stay deeply imprinted in our hearts and the trace that he left as a great opera artist will be recorded in the memoirs of the National Theater of Sarajevo forever,” as announced from the National Theater Sarajevo.
Dusko Bugarin was born in Temisvar back in 1931, where he graduated from Gymnasium. He graduated from the Music Academy in Bucharest in 1955 and he got engaged in the State Operetta Theater that same year. He became a member of Novi Sad Opera in 1971 and a member of the Sarajevo Opera in 1974. He celebrated 35 and 50 years of artwork as the champion of Sarajevo’s opera with the roles of Jupiter in the operetta Orpheus in the Underworld (1990) and Bartol in The Marriage of Figaro (2005). In the 50 years of his career, he recorded more than 80 premiers, 187 operas, operettas, musicals and 5,000 performances. He directed two performances in the Sarajevo Opera (Madame Butterfly 1991/92 and Basten and Bastena 1995/96) and he was assistant director in three performances (operetta Orpheus in the Underworld 1990/91, the Servant Turned Mistress 1995/96 and the Bat 2005/06).
His last performance was recorded on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Sarajevo Opera at the concert “Opera Gala” that was held back in 2016.
