After Zdravko Tolimir passed away in the detention unit of the United Nations in Scheveningen on February 8, 2015, the Dutch authorities conducted an autopsy in accordance with standard procedures which are mandatory in the Dutch national legislature, The Hague Tribunal stated.
The Dutch authorities notified the mechanism that, based on autopsy results, it was concluded that Tolimir died of natural causes.
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia sentenced Zdravko Tolimir to a life imprisonment. At the time of his death, Tolimir was waiting to be transferred to the country where he was supposed to serve his sentence.
