International Forum of Solidarity – Emmaus in the past two years has collected help from foreign and domestic donors, and organized the construction and reconstruction of 62 houses during the May floods, with the total value of the works amounting to more than 600,000 BAM, while the total valu e of the construction of houses with donated humanitarian assistance during floods was about 2 million BAM. The construction of three houses for vulnerable families is taking place at the moment, and they are planning to build 4 more houses.
With this, IFS – EMMAUS as charity organization organized the construction and reconstruction of 69 houses in just 2 years, for those who needed help or they still need it.
When it comes to the constructed and renovated houses during the floods of 2014, these are 49 houses in Bosanski Samac, 11 in Doboj and one house in Doboj Jug and one in Gracanica. Beneficiaries were people who were not able to finance the works themselves or who are socially vulnerable.
The finishing works on the construction of two houses are currently taking place, and they are for vulnerable family of Mirsada and Jasmina Suljkanovic in Lukavica Rijeka which started in March this year, and for orphan family in Mionica near Gradacac, while the reconstruction of the house, also for orphan family, is taking place in Jelovce Selo near Srebrenik. The value of the works on this 3 houses amounts to about 90,000 BAM.
“During the traditional ‘International Youth Work Camp in Potocari’ by Emmaus that will be held for the 11th time in July this year in Srebrenica, the construction of two houses for multimember socially vulnerable returnee families will start. By the end of the year, the IFS – EMMAUS is planning to build two more houses. Works on building houses for orphan family worth around 40,000 BAM will start in Tuzla, and the construction of the house for four children without parental care in the value of about 90,000 BAM is planned in Kalesija,” said the Director of IFS – EMMAUS, Hamzalija Okanovic.
