courtSarajevo will host one of the most important legal conference entitled “Third Sarajevo Days of arbitration” for the first time, which will include the biggest names from the world of justice and arbitration. The focus of the conference will be the most important current challenges in the field of international arbitration and the arbitration that BiH conducted before international arbitration tribunals, which are worth several million BAM.

“Arbitration is an effective way of resolving disputes in which parties select a single arbitrator or an arbitration panel to rule on the dispute resolution. Arbitration decisions have the force of a final court decision. The focus of our conference is the most important challenges in the field of international arbitration and the position of BiH in this area since our country is faced with the need for adequate adaptation to developed and global arbitration system,” said Armela Ramic, project manager of the Association ARBITRI that organized this conference.

After Zagreb and Belgrade, Sarajevo is hosting this renowned conference, with the participation of the largest and most eminent names and law firms such as Baker McKenzie (employing over 4,000 lawyers worldwide, and has offices in New York, the United States and Europe), “Ademovic”, “Nozica and partners,” “Maric and partners”,” Law Office Stevanovic”, Ljubljana center for arbitration of disputes, and other experts from the region.

When it comes to investment disputes, mainly involved are state and large companies. The height of claims is almost always very high, counted in millions, and in case that the state loses the case, compensation or the consequences of losing the dispute goes at the expense of the state budget. The biggest arbitration centers for solving these disputes are located in Zagreb, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Paris, Stockholm, London, and Singapore. BiH has the arbitral tribunal that operates at the Foreign Trade Chamber.

At the conference “The third Sarajevo Days of Arbitration” will be discussed the position of women in the judiciary in the panel of Association Arbitral Woman, and the speaker will be known BH lawyer Senka Nozica.
