In 2015/2016 school year, on the territory of BiH, there were 317 pre-school institutions with 22.901 children. Compared to the previous school year, the number of preschool institutions is 9,7 % higher, the number of children in pre-school institutions increased by 6,6 %, and the number of employees is 7,5 % higher.
Basic schools
In the school year 2015/2016, on the territory of BiH, there were 291.342 pupils enrolled in 1.850 schools, which was 5.477 pupils less or 1,8 % lower in comparison with the previous year. At the beginning of the school year 2015/2016, there were 23,515 teachers included in the education process out of which 16.778 or 71,3 % women.
Secondary schools
In the school year 2015/2016, on the territory of BiH, there were 133.228 pupils enrolled in 311 schools, which was 10.653 pupils less or 7,4 % lower in comparison with the previous year. In the school year 2015/2016, there were 12.859 teachers included in the education process, out of which 7.696 or 59,8 % were women.
Higher education
In the academic year 2015/2016, there were 105.299 students enrolled in winter semester of the first cycle of higher education, including integrated studies, out of which 94.090 students were enrolled in all study years, while 11.209 were candidates for graduation. In 2015 there were 15.974 students who graduated/completed academic or professional studies, which was 5,6 % lower in comparison with the previous year. Out of the total number of graduated students, 58,7 % were female.
