In April 2017 there were 111,694 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the increase by 47.9% as compared to March 2017 and increase by 18.2% as compared to April 2016. Tourists stayed 215,025 nights which represent the increase by 37.6% as compared to March 2017 and increase by 15.9% as compared to April 2016.
Domestic tourists share of total number of overnight stays was 27.7% and foreign tourists share was 72.3%. The number of domestic tourist nights increased by 14.0% as compared to March 2017 and increased by 2.5% as compared to April 2016. Foreign tourist nights increased by 49.5% as compared to March 2017 and increased by 22.0% as compared to April 2016. Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights in April 2017, the most of them (52.1%) were realised by tourists from: Croatia (12.0%), Turkey (8.9%), Italy (7.4%), Serbia (6,8%), United Arab Emirates (6.0%), Germany and Slovenia by (5.5%). Tourists from other countries realised 47.9% of tourist nights.
Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes: Iran with average stay by 4.2 nights, Malta with 4.0 nights, Ireland and South Africa with by 3.7 nights, Netherlands with 3.5 nights and Kuwait with 3.4 nights Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in April 2017 amounted to 18,482, which is 15.4% increase compared to April 2016. The number of available beds was 38,982 beds, which represents an increase by 14.5%, compared to the same month of 2016.
In April 2017, in the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 16,358, which is an increase of 15.1% compared to April 2016., and number of available beds amounted to 33,193 which is an increase of 14.7%, compared to the same month of the previous year. The net occupancy rate of permanent beds was 19.7%. According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with the share of 92.8%.
