Winter season on Bjelasnica and Igman is officially over. This season was successful, as stated from the PUC ZOI ’84, and the mountain was visited by 250,000 visitors.
“We are very satisfied with the winter season and the number of visits to our Olympic mountains. This season was one of the better ones in the last few years. The biggest number of visits was recorded in January. We recorded more than 20 night skiing and more than 100 daily varieties of skiing. Everything went in the best way possible and there were no serious injuries of skiers recorded,” said Suad Jusic, coordinator of marketing services of this company.
Jusic said that the cable car for sightseeing will remain in operation on Bjelasnica until the start of works and setting of new vertical transportation, while the double seater for sightseeing will be in operation on Malo polje on Igman. All activities, as he noted, will be focused on the reconstruction of vertical transportation.
“For the beginning of April was planned dismantling of three seater and start of works on a system of artificial snowing, which will be followed by construction of a new six seater cable car that will go from Babin do to intermediate stop, and the four-seater that will go from the intermediate stop to the top of Bjelasnica. It is planned for all works to be completed by the end of September so that the ski center Igman-Bjelasnica will enter the next winter season with new vertical transportation,” said Jusic.
A project of vertical transportation and the artificial snowing system will cost 16 million BAM. Six million BAM is provided from the budget of the Government of CS, and 10 million BAM will be provided through loans of the Government of CS. Due to works on Bjelasnica, according to Jusic, the summer season will be focused on Malo polje on Igman, where visitors will be able to access sports facilities, children’s amusement park and trails for mountain biking.
