In the first two months, the influx of migrants in BH is increased and more than 100 of them crossed the border of BiH this year, in comparison with the last year, when in the same period only 40 crossed, said the Director of Service for Foreigners’ Affairs Slobodan Ujić.
According to information available to the Department for Foreigners’ Affairs, Hungary and Croatia have closed their borders completely.
“One part of migrants’ group are moving towards Romania, and three groups have already entered BiH, so there might be a possibility of changing the route and movement of migrants to our country. Migrants are staying for a long time in Serbia and it makes them nervous and they will look for any way to break through to the European Union (EU), as BiH and Serbia are definitely not their promised land,” said Ujić.
Some authorities in Serbia claim that migrants will not cross the border of BiH, and Ujić says that these are good news.
In 17 centers of Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of Serbia 6,700 migrants is situated, of which five asylum centers and 12 reception centers.
“Movement of migrant groups have so far been unpredictable and the route that leads through Serbia is functional. It remains to be seen what will happen in the future. More than 500 migrants is still on the streets in the center of Belgrade in unsuitable premises. We tried to convince them to live in the center 800 migrants agreed to do so, but the number of migrants constantly refuses to enter the asylum system, ” said Commissariat for Refugees and migration Serbia Ivan Miskovic.
Miskovic believes that good weather may accelerate migration flows, but that the combined forces of the police and army from July will result in the increased number of migrants entering Serbia.
