Yesterday, Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka received the Ambassador of Russian Federation in BiH, NJ.E. Petar Ivancov, who congratulated him on his appointment.
Ambassador Ivancov informed Mayor Skaka that the city of Moscow – Central District expressed the desire to establish a special relationship with the city of Sarajevo. This idea was gladly accepted, and the participants agreed to start formal negotiations between two cities as soon as possible.
Mayor Skaka emphasized that the city of Sarajevo is open for cooperation with Moscow through realization of cultural, sport, educational and other projects.
“Friendly relationship between Sarajevo and Moscow is an indicator that Russia is an important partner for BiH”, stated Mayor Skaka.
In this regard, Mayor proposed the concert of Moscow Philharmonic to be held in the City Hall, in order for Moscow to present itself to Sarajevo in this way.
Ambassador Ivancov enthusiastically accepted this proposal and expressed the wish for the Russian cinematography to be presented at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
On the other hand, they agreed on the visit of Russian journalist to Sarajevo, in order to make a documentary film about the capital city of BiH, and brings closer the beauty, life, traditions of our city as the increasingly attractive touristic destination in this part of the region.
When it comes to cooperation in the field of education, the Ambassador of Russian Federation emphasized that this embassy currently gives scholarships to about 60 students from BiH, through financing masters and Ph.D. studies, as well as through non-formal education.
