At the local elections for mayors and the municipal council in Stolac voted about 7,500 voters or about 75 % of 10,012 ordinary voters.
“All polling stations were closed at the time and there were no serious problems or incidents, except for some procedural matters at the polling stations that are resolved,” said the president of the Municipal Election Commission, Jozo Matic.
In the elections in Stolac citizens voted on 19 polling stations, one polling place for absentee voting while four mobile teams were working on the field.
A number of voters in the municipality of Stolac is 11,404, of which 10,012 regular, 1,321 voters registered outside BiH, and 31 voters was registered to vote in the absence and 40 voters who are registered to vote in person.
A total of 14 political entities nominated 68 people for the municipal council, while for a new mayor was decided between the current mayor and candidate of the HDZ BiH Stjepan Boskovic and independent candidate Mato Komsic.
Preliminary results are expected after 22 hours.
The elections in Stolac were supervised by officials of the CEC and representatives of the Coalition for free and fair Elections “Pod lupom”, while the Ministry of Interior of HNC monitored the security situation in order for elections to pass without any incidents.
