Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdic said that it is important for the future of the country to move from declarative commitment on the actual activities in order to make a serious step forward when it comes to BiH’s path to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Zvizdic repeated that from Brussels comes the message that the door is open for BiH when it comes to the European Union, and from NATO say that the pace of progress of BiH depends exclusively on BH institutions and dominant policy in BiH.
He recalled that we made step forward when it comes to BiH’s path towards the European Union in 2016, and on the other hand is important the activation of the Action Plan for NATO membership (MAP), and that the MAP was accepted at the meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of Foreign Ministers.
“They got the ability and authority that the Membership Action Plan is activated when the condition from Tallinn on recording a military asset is met. We made a step forward with the review of defense and plan of modernization of the Armed Forces of BiH”, stated Zvizdic.
It is important, added the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, to start working on the implementation of Tallinn and other conditions because the activation of the MAP means a serious step towards NATO, and NATO means peace, stability, and security in BiH, and nothing is more important than this because it is the key and a basic prerequisite for economic development, domestic and foreign investment and even for a brighter and more prosperous future for BiH.
Zvizdic recalled that the process of joining NATO started in 2006 and by 2009 was determined the dynamics in this area through the Partnership for Peace and other activities that were conducted with NATO.
He noted that NATO through political and economic processes and the rule of law and respect for human rights assess the situation in a country, and BiH received certain conditions in 2009 in Tallinn and then started the real blockade, said Zvizdic, adding that if there was a commitment to NATO membership, Tallinn requirements could be met in 2011 or 2012.
He expressed hope that BiH will get the candidate status when it comes to the European Union by the end of this year or early next year it there is no political blockage and linking of the Questionnaire of the European Commission with daily political issues that have nothing to do with European integration.
