Minister of Transportation and Communications of Republika Srpska Neđo Trninić said that the construction of the section of the highway January 9 on the route Banja Luka – Prnjavor, in the length of 35.3 kilometers, is going as planned.
According to him, construction of the section worth 160 million EUR should be completed by the end of next year.
“The section will be a part of the highway January 9 which will connect Gradiška and Banja Luka, and that will be the beginning of the network of highways planned through Republika Srpska. The entire section should be around 72 kilometers long from Johovac to Mahovljani, and the section Banja Luka – Gradiška is around 40 kilometers, long, so we will have around 110 kilometers of highway, but we will not stop there,” said Trninić.
Trninić explained that talks are being conducted on the construction of the highway section towards Prijedor, Mahovljani and Bijeljina, and negotiations are also being led on the Corridor 5C.
“In the near future, Republika Srpska should have more than 400 kilometers of highway,” said Trninić.
After visiting the construction sites, Trninić said that weather conditions are in favor of construction, that rough works have been completed and that workers are progressing towards the final stage of installing equipment and asphalting.
The section Doboj-Prnjavor was opened on September 11 this year. The entire motorway Banja Luka – Doboj should be completed next year and connected with the motorway Banja Luka – Gradiška. The investment is worth 340 million BAM and the funds were provided from a loan from the European Bank for reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
Works on both sections of the motorway Banja Luka – Doboj are conducted by a consortium consisting of companies “Integral Engineering” from Laktaši and “Granit” from Skopje.
