Exhibition titled “Ex-Files: Maglaj as we loved/love it” will be opened in Maglaj soon. At the exhibition, the organizers will present archive materials collected in the period from 1930 until 1990, which will serve as a reminder of one past time.
The floods that hit Maglaj in 2014 caused extreme damage in this town. Significant damage was made in the fund of the Local Collection, as well as in the homes of citizens where many archive materials that testified to the past of the town and its residents were destroyed.
Through the project “Ex-Files: Maglaj as we loved/love it”, members of the Youth Association Dictum Factum from Maglaj collected the existing and remaining archive materials (photographs, books, magazines, personal items and artefacts), items of personal importance and interesting items that testify to the habits of the people of Maglaj. They will present them at the seven-day-long exhibition in the town.
Special fund in the project are personal anecdotes of citizens about the life, the clothing habits, and love in the past.
Members of the Association visited the homes of citizens of Maglaj, where they digitalized interesting materials (primarily photographs) about cultural, sport and social life. They also contacted the renowned photographer Milomir Kovačević Strašni, who gave to the collection photographs taken on the streets of Maglaj. Exhibition was also supported by the German-Maglaj photographer Minje Ramović and Eldar Emrić, photographer and journalist in Associated Press.
The exhibition will be displayed in the warehouse of the former socialist giant “Mapex” from September 2 until September 9 this year. After the exhibition, a web platform will be launched and citizens will be able to donate exhibits.
