Representatives of the organization “Woman – Victim of War” and members of families of the civilians who were incinerated alive in the settlement Bikavac marked yesterday the 24th anniversary of the crime that took place in the house of Meho Aljić, the house that became known as “the living pyre”.
President of the organization Bakira Hasečić stated that more than 70 civilians were incinerated here on June 27, 1992, and that only one person survived.
Hasečić added that they paid tribute to the killed ones in front of the Emperor’s Mosque in Višegrad. After that, they headed towards the execution site with pictures and banners in their hands.
Hasečić said that the remain of the incinerated civilians were never found and yesterday they sent a message to the citizens of Višegrad, hoping that someone who knows what happened will speak up ad reveal where the bones are hidden.
Furthermore, Hasečić pointed out that the marking went on with the presence of many police officers and without a single incident or provocation.
Milan Lukić was sentenced to life before The Hague Tribunal for this crime, while Sredoje Lukić got 27 years in prison.
