In September 2020, there were 55,156 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the decrease by 23.0% as compared to August 2020 and decrease by 67.5% as compared to September 2019. Tourists realised 14,205 overnight stays which represent the decrease by 32.0% as compared to August 2020 and decrease by 57.0% as compared to September 2019. Domestic tourists share of total number of overnight stays was 75.4% and foreign tourists share was 24.6%.
The number of domestic overnight stays decreased by 31.8% as compared to August 2020 and increased by 21.7% as compared to September 2019. Overnight stays by foreigners decreased by 32% as compared to August 2020 and decreased by 85.6% as compared to September 2019.
Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights in September 2020, the most of them (64.1%) were realised by tourists from: Serbia with (43.2%), Croatia (11.7%), Turkey (3.3%) and Germany (2.7%). Tourists from other countries realised 35.9% of tourist nights.
Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes: Malaysia with an average stay by 31.0 nights, Japan 10.7 nights, Hungary 6.0 nights, Belgium 5.9 nights and Norway 5.1 nights.
Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in September 2020 amounted to 16,508 which is 21.0% decrease compared to September 2019. The number of available beds was 34,437, which is decrease by 21,3%, compared to the same month of 2019.
In September 2020, in the activity – hotels and similar accommodation, a number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 15,063, which is a decrease of 17,8% compared to September 2019, and a number of available beds amounted to 30,913 which is a decrease of 18,1%, compared to the same month of the previous year.
The net occupancy rate of permanent beds in September 2020 was 14.2%.
According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 92.4%.
