The 20th anniversary of the death of the legendary commander Zaim Imamovic will be marked today in Sarajevo.
The commander of the 14th Division of the 1st Corps of the Army of B&H was killed on the 9th of October 1995, two days before the establishment of a permanent truce on the territory of the Republic of B&H, on the front line in the region of Rogoj in the Trnovo municipality.
“Departure from the Square of the city’s defenders was done this morning from Gorazde, because many comrades and friends of Zaim Imamovic wanted to lay flowers and pray in front of the Alipasina mosque where he was buried. They gather in front of the mosque at 10:15 a.m. and already at 10:30 a.m. the marking ceremony of the anniversary of the death of commander Zaim was held in Dom mladih in Skenderija, “said Nesib Hodo, president of the Association of Demobilized Soldiers of BPK Gorazde.
He added that the commander Zaim Imamovic had very important role and contribution in the defense of this region, who formed the First Drinska brigade in 1992, which was one of the first brigades that defended the eastern gate of B&H. He was also the creator of the operation with code name Krug, which was carried out from the 15th of August to the 18th of September 1992, within which he liberated the city of Gorazde and the entire territory of this municipality, as well as significant parts of the municipalities Foca and Rogatica.
Hero of Drina, Zaim Imamovic, commander of the 14th Division of the 1st Corps of the Army of B&H, was posthumously awarded with the highest military honor “Zlatni ljijan/Golden Lilly” award.
