Tourists realized 134,849 visits in BiH in May 2016, which is by 42.7 % more compared to April 2016 and by 12.9 % more in comparison to May 2015.
Tourists recorded a total of 258,134 overnight stays in May, which is by 39.1% higher compared to April 2016 and by 11.7 % more than in May 2015.
When it comes to the number of overnight stays, share of domestic tourists was 31.1 % and 68.9 % of foreign tourists. Number of domestic tourist in overnight stays was increased by 38.1 % compared to April 2016 and by 5.6% compared to May 2015. Number of foreign tourists in overnight stays was increased by 39.6 % compared to April 2016 and increased by 14.6 % in comparison to May 2015.
In the structure of overnight stays for foreign tourists in May 2016, most overnight stays were realized by tourists from Turkey (18.1%), Croatia (8.4%), Serbia (7.6%), Italy (6.4%), Slovenia (4.3%), Germany (3.7%), and South Korea (3.6%), which makes a total of 52.1 %. Tourists from other countries realized 47.9 % of overnight stays, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
According to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, in the first place are guests from South Africa with an average stay of 5 nights, than Ireland with 4.5, Italy with 3.2, Kuwait with 3, tourists from Malta with 2.9 and tourists from Slovakia with 2.8 overnight stays.
A total of 16,617 rooms, apartments and camping sites were available for tourists in May 2016 in BiH, which is by 11% more than in May 2015 and 35,552 available beds, which is by 7.6 % higher in comparison to the same month in 2015.
In May 2016 in the framework of activities – with hotels and similar accommodation, 14,524 rooms and suites were available for tourists, which is by 6.4 % more than in May 2015 and 29,534 beds, which is by 7.8% more than in the same month of the previous year.
Net utilization rate of permanent beds was 25.9 %. According to the type of accommodation, the highest number of overnight stays was realized in the framework of activities of hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 93.3 %.
