Minister of Justice of BiH Josip Grubeša met today with the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Croatia Ante Šprljak in Zagreb. The meeting was held with the aim to achieve more efficient co-operation on the BiH path towards the EU, namely to improve prison system and its alignment with Strict international standards.
The focus of the meeting is the exchange of experience and good practice Croatia as a member of the European Union, whose system of criminal sanctions is fully in line with European standards.
Minister Grubesa emphasized that “despite numerous obstacles to the construction of the State Prison in the final stage”, and underlined the importance of creating all the necessary prerequisites for the effective beginning of construction of this high security facility.
“The Republic of Croatia has built up modern prison facilities and it is certain that during its construction they faced various problems. It is important for us to share all the solutions and experiences which they are ready to share with us, so that Bosnia and Herzegovina can adequately respond to all challenges in the next period” added Minister Grubesa.
Minister Grubeša thanked to the hosts and emphasized that the cooperation of the two ministries in the next period will be intensified and strengthened by the activities that are clearly established during today’s visit.
